Neal Adams, Joe Kubert, and Stan Lee Team Up to Tell The Tale of Dina Gottliebova Babbitt
Neal Adams, Joe Kubert, and Stan Lee, have joined forces to tell the story of, Dina Gottliebova Babbitt, a holocaust survivor that used her artistic talents and painted portraits for the infamous “Angel of Death” Dr. Josef Mengele. Dina Babbitt painted watercolor portraits for the evil Nazi doctor for 2 years, with some of those paintings actually surviving. Those paintings can now be seen at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial Museam in Poland, but Babbitt has wanted them back for a good while now, and the museum refuses to part with them. After a long drawn out fight to retrieve her her paintings back, a 6-page comic has been produced with drawings and contributions from the aforementioned comic book legends. The book, illustrated by Neal Adams, shows a time line of Babbitt’s experiences and why she was chosen to paint portraits of prisoners of the notorious concentration camp. The comic has been presented to major comic book companies in hopes of getting it published, but nothing has come to fruition as of now. You can view it for yourself via the New York Times.
