Wakamaru Joins Uniqlo Workforce

Uniqlo is set to bring "Wakamaru", the first robot ever to be featured into a retail environment, into their Soho store next week. Since Wakamaru was unveiled by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) it has usually been used for companionship for the elderly and for receptionist/secretarial jobs. Uniqlo will be the first company to incorporate Wakamaru into retail customer service. Wakamaru's capabilities include eye contact, basic arm movements, basic conversation, and voice recognition. This is truly a sign of the times. Wakamaru's work will include It will lead staff in motivational morning exercises, communicate promotions to customers, as well as greet customers upon entrance into the store. Amazing.
