BMW GINA Light Visionary Model

Photobucket

BMW has just presented a visionary fabric car model that embodies BMW’s design philosophy of ‘doing things differently’. The project has been named “GINA”, which stands for ‘geometry and function in an infinite number of alternatives’. Having been on the forefront of design innovation in the automotive industry for many years, the latest design innovation from the German automaker is a car. Instead of having metal panels, its skin is made of a flexible fabric material stretched over a mechanically movable frame, and hence the shape of the car can be changed.
This design project will hope to create a substantial impact to change the way people think about cars as well as allowing designers to ‘free up their minds’ to look at different methods of automotive design.
