I've been busy beyond belief, seriously. Amongst a million other things, i'm working on a new version of the site. Not just visually, but content wise. This will see fruition sooner then later...

The Solar Collector

The "Solar Collector", is a collection of twelve illuminated shafts along a roadside hilltop. Using the internet, members of the Solar Collector web community can express themselves by creating web based light-wave patterns and at night the Solar Collector comes to life and actually acts out the patterns. It's a pretty interesting thing. You can view the site Solar Collector here.

Thomas Forsyth | Drawing Tops

British designer Thomas Forsyth's latest drawings tops projects aside from being a great tool for creative great shapes and raising one's innner child, is an exploration of the gap between sparatic and rule bound forms of creation. The drawing tops will be feature as a part of his "Objects and Play" collection. The video below shows it's use and a quote from Forsyth below that shows his inspiration for the piece.
drawing tops
'a spinning-top, that uses a pen as the spindle, represents many of the core ideas behind my current work. it is recognisable, un-intimidating, and invites people to interact with objects that can lead to unpredictable results, or an emergent property. simply through indulging in the enjoyable process of spinning the top a bi-product is created. where the pen marks the surface, a beautiful map of the experience and events that have occurred is produced. I am able to draw, but I am not particularly talented at it and yet found that, through the interaction with these objects, I have created drawings that I am more proud of than any I have done before.' Undercover “The Sound and the Fury” Hiroshima with Jun Takahashi
December 7th marked Jun Takahashi's Undercover inspired "Sound and the Fury" live doll making exhibition in Hiroshima, Japan. Above is a live video of Takahashis live doll construction accompanied by live music. This is a prettyinteresting otlet for a fashion designer. I know a lot of designers are into toys and figurines, but I am yet to see anything of this sort be done. The live aspect of it was pretty remarkable.

More Sex Condoms

Concept for a packaging competition by Mads Jakob Poulsen and Robert Nagy
Young Creative Circle, design competition, shortlist
Client: Sex og Sundhed
1 design briefing, teams of 2 people, 24 hours, maximum 2 proposals.
The brief was to make an appealing package for three condoms as a give away for danish non-profit organization Sex and Health. The target group was young people from 15-25 years of age. Combined with no sleep, thai food and lots of coffee this was what we made in the 24 hours.
This, our first proposal, is a handy package constructed so it opens from the right to left, revealing a simple humoristic statement when you take out a condom. The statements simply connecting condoms with having sex, and no more condoms meaning no more sex. The message should come across in eye level with the target group with out being patronizing or judgmental."

Abandoned Blogs
According to the Technorati 2008 State of the Blogosphere, of the 133 million blogs the site tracks only 7.4 million have been updated in the last 120 days. (For those that don't feel like doing the math, that's 125.6 million abandoned or at least unloved blogs.) I hope this blog never adds to that statistic.

Barack by Callie Shell

Photo Journalist Callie Shell has a photo diary of Barack Obama's beginings on the road to his road to winning the democratic nomination. It's pretty crazy to see him in his everyday life. Theirs one photo (below) of him cleaning up after himself in an ice cream parlor that turned the larger than life icon he has come to be into a real person. He's definitely come along way in the past year and I encourage everyone to go out today and VOTE!..... for him. You can view Callie Shell's photo journal here.

You can view a previous photo diary of Barack in the democratic primary here. Lets get it done America!
