PACO - is white 3m x 3m x 3m cube designed by Jo Nagasaka & Sschemata Architecture Office Ltd. It offers the minimum equipment to live on such a small space; it has a hammock, a table, a toilet, and a shower. Everything you'll need to live.

Wouldnt it be awesome to see a Paco community somewhere? Like a huge warehouse full of these things? Im not sure about the cost of this, being that the site is in Japanese, but i'm curious to know.

YSL/Berge Auction Preview

The 700+ piece art collection of legendary designer Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Berg. Throughout the years the couples' collection has been kept private inside their Paris apartment. Now, Christies will be orchestrating the sale of the entire collection Among the items to be auctioned are works of Pablo Picasso, works of Mondrian and Egyption sarcophagi. Wallpaper has a preview of the auction here which more than previewing the aution, provides photos of the interior of the apartment and the vast amounts of art inside.

Hedi Slimane | Photographs from the Yves Saint Laurent Home

Famed photographer, former Dior Homme Creative Director and one time YSL designer Hedi Slimane took a visit to and photographed the home of the late Yves Saint Laurent late last yeah. I saw these photos a few months back, but just recently found out that the home was indeed Laurent's residence. You can view the complete series of photographs here.

Dior Homme Dermo System line of products “is the first dermatological skincare system designed to preserve the youthful appearance of men’s skin.” The line was created by Hedi Slimane himself with the help of a renown international research center. Dior Homme Dermo system family is home to a variety of products. The thing that caught my eye about this was the packaging, I love the look of the bottles and glasses. Now available at Sephora.

Helmut Lang ‘Alles Gleich Schwer’ Online

Last month I spoke of Helmut Lang’s much awaited online exhibition with Absolut Vodka entitled 'Alles Gleich Schwer'. Well the exhibit is now available to view online. If you're familiar will Lang's fashion design history it is evident in this new exhibit that his design aesthetic holds true between both clothing and art. A performer from Stan’s Cafe theatre company stands behind the rice mountain that represents the
population of the USA: one grain = one person

Visual artists love statistics. A new show in Birmingham UK uses grains of rice to represent the 6.7 billion of us on planet Earth. Stan’s Cafe theatre company presents Of All the People in All the World, a touring exhibition where a whopping 112 tonnes of rice was been used to replicate a whole plethora of statistics. The show is too extensive to write about but luckily the entire thing can be seen in a Flickr set, here.

Erin Wasson for RVCA New York Fashion Week Launch

RVCA and Supermodel Erin Wasson debuted their Spring 2009 collaborative line September 4th in New York during Fashion Week. The event was heald in New York Lower East Side and featured models wearing the complete collection as well as a vast array of campaign imagery featuring the photography of Terry Richardson. The line is Erin Wasson high fashion take on the surf, skate market and the line looks pretty amazing. Above is a video of the launch event.

1940's Rolex Made Panerai Radiomir for Italian Navy

This is a very interesting story I read over at Honkidee. it goes as follows: "The brand Panerai, known now as the archetypal New Yorker watch, was once a lowly producer of boring technical equipment (compasses, depth gauges, and the like) until 1935 when they somehow landed a contract with the Italian navy to develop watches that could be read underwater. Being that Officine Panerai had never produced a time-telling device at all, you can imagine who they turned to....Rolex. Released in 1938 only to the Italian Navy, Officine Panerai produced diving watches called the "Radiomir" with movements, cases, and crowns all made by Rolex." Wakamaru Joins Uniqlo Workforce

Uniqlo is set to bring "Wakamaru", the first robot ever to be featured into a retail environment, into their Soho store next week. Since Wakamaru was unveiled by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) it has usually been used for companionship for the elderly and for receptionist/secretarial jobs. Uniqlo will be the first company to incorporate Wakamaru into retail customer service. Wakamaru's capabilities include eye contact, basic arm movements, basic conversation, and voice recognition. This is truly a sign of the times. Wakamaru's work will include It will lead staff in motivational morning exercises, communicate promotions to customers, as well as greet customers upon entrance into the store. Amazing.

9 Evenings, Zurich

In 1966 years ago the New York art scene experienced an event that would unknowingly pave the way for a new era of collaboration between artists and engineers. "9 Evenings" was a series of performances led by Robert Rauschenberg combining music, theatre, dance, film and video – a groundbreaking collaboration of 10 artists and 30 technicians from Bell Telephone Laboratories amidst the creative whirl of the 1960s. Participants included the likes of John Cage, Lucinda Childs, Öyvind Fahlström, Alex Hay, Steve Paxton, Yvonne Rainer, Deborah Hay, David Tudor and Robert Whitman, and Rauschenberg. A new exhibition at the Museum of Design in Zurich, Examines 9 evenings from all aspects. You can view information 9 evenings here.

Nike "Beautiul Losers" Dunk Collection

Nike has created a series of 22 dun his in commemoration of the August 8th premier of the beautiful losers full length film in NYC.

"Presented by NIKE SPORTSWEAR, the film chronicles the lives and creative process of artists including Shepard Fairey, Margaret Kilgallen, Mike Mills, Barry McGee, Jo Jackson, Chris Johanson, Harmony Korine, Stephen Powers, Geoff McFetridge, Thomas Campbell and Ed Templeton, among others, whose DIY attitudes informed the aesthetics and ethos of their generation.

To further commemorate the film’s release, Nike’s Sportswear’s JESSE LEYVA has also created a series of 22 Beautiful Losers Dunks emblazoned with iconic stills from the movie using the company’s new high-resolution digital printing process. Says Aaron Rose of the project, “We went back to the documentary and pulled frame stills of what we felt were key moments in the narrative. We used these moments to tell the Beautiful Losers story using the shoes as a medium, with the end result being a collection of works of art.” Viewed together, the shoes reflect the overall narrative of the film, and after being exhibited at the NYC and LA “Make Something!” workshops, two sets of the shoes will be auctioned off with proceeds donated to the Children’s Aid Society." "A More Perfect Union"

Although i'm not the patriotic type this video put me in the 4th of July mood. "A More Perfect Union" spells out the preamble to the United States Constitution on the t-shirts of forty friends in a high school gym in New York City. This is a nice video to end the Independence Day weekend with.

Hermès H Box

Hbox is a mobile video space, showing the work of eight video artists, coming from different countries and cultures (each year, four new artists substitute four of the previous); this project sees the video as a moving art through the world, proportioning the reencounter of different publics and concepts. the Hermès project Hbox, created by Didier Fiuza (Portuguese artist and architect) and Benjamin Weil (director of Artists Space, NY). The H-Box is now in Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall Bridge in London, UK. Hopefully it will come to the U.S. soon. For now a short video which is played in the H-Box can be seen over at Wallpaper.
